Ragtime in a Town That Time Forgot
If you like ragtime music, here's your opportunity to hear some that great music played by some of the top ragtime musicians in America. The twin cities of Rockhill and Orbisonia play host to the fifth annual Central Pennsylvania Ragtime Festival. Located midway between Harrisburg and Altoona, the festival brings in top talent from all over the US to entertain you. It's roughly a two hour trip via US-22 from either location. It's 2 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh, 2 1/2 hours from Washington DC, 3 hours from Philadelphia, and just 4 hours from New York, NY. Make a day trip, or stay for the weekend.
June 20th to 22nd, 2014 are the dates and Rockhill Furnace, Pennsylvania is the place to be to hear great ragtime. You’ll be carried back to the good old days on the early 20th century trolleys at the Rockhill Trolley Museum. A Getz Steam Calliope will be operating on the Trolley Museum grounds.
There will be a Picnic concert on Sunday afternoon at 12:30.
For you amateur and budding ragtime players there will be opportunities to showcase your talent during the festival. Walk up talent sometimes even gets to perform in one of the concerts.
